Sales Resume Summary Examples

A sales summary needs three things: what you sell, who buys it, and the number you hit. Lead with quota attainment, revenue, pipeline, or deal size. Without a number, the summary reads like a job description.

Sales summary FAQ

What if I missed quota last year?

Lead with a period where you hit it, or use a different number: pipeline generated, win rate, logo retention, new accounts opened. Never invent attainment, it gets verified in reference checks more than any other claim in sales.

I have no sales title but I sold. Does it count?

Yes. Retail attachment rates, upsells from a support seat, fundraising totals, freelance client acquisition, all of it is quota-adjacent proof. Name the number and the mechanism.

Should I list the products I sold?

Name the category, not the SKU: "cloud security software," "orthopedic implants," "commercial HVAC." Buyers-side vocabulary matters more than product names.

How do I write a sales summary as a career changer?

One clause for the old field, one for the transferable metric, one for the target role. Skip the apology; hiring managers care about whether you can hold a conversation and take rejection.

Do I include commission or W2 earnings?

No. Earnings belong in a conversation, not on a resume. Quota attainment communicates the same thing without the awkwardness.
